The project looks for creative alternatives for living in dense Urban environments. This seven storey structure sits within historical inner city area of Mumbai, surrounded by old heritage structures. Nestled in a dense Urban fabric, the regional built form is devoid of open spaces, natural light and ventilation. This project looks for creative alternatives towards re-housing 108 tenants of existing derelict buildings with sale component, new open spaces and amenities. The proposal involves amalgamation of three plots to maximise the building footprint. The design process revolved around designing a compact layout incorporating these housing units and their amenities. The buit-form develops around a central courtyard, which filters light through out the building.
